At this stage there
were 2 double winners (Mark Wheelhouse and Tony Adams) and 8 single winners.
Hence there were two semi-finals to see who would join Mark and Tony in the
final. The finals started at 8pm and finshed somewhere around 10:30pm.
Semi Finals
John David beat Felicity Challis/Richard Waring/Callum Finlayson
Jon Challis beat Ron Wheelhouse/Andrew Trickett/Arthur Howlin
+++++++++++++++
Final
The final took
place at 10am on Monday morning as the players desperately needed some sort
of rapid eye movement.
It was jokingly
agreed that I should set a time limit around 1:45pm as some of the finalists
had other tournaments they wanted to enter. In the end the time limit wasn't
needed - as the game finished at 1:30pm, only just before the alarm!
The UK Champion:
Mark Wheelhouse beat Tony Adams, John Davis and Jon Challis
And, boy did he
do it in style. Mark had got himself into a position where he burned 4 FSS for
victory and couldn't play any more sites as he only had 1 power left over. John
Davis was playing heavily with Killing Rains and there were very few FSS in
play.
On Mark's turn,
he noticed the only FSS in play as a Kinoshita House with 2 damage on it. He
attacked it with everything he had, Raptor Squads, Tanks, the lot. He knew John
Davis had another Killing Rain (revealed because of a Memory Palace).
Mark finesses the
Killing Rain. The Killing Rain fails the attack. This stopped Mark from winning.
However with no
other FSS in play, Mark simply delcares himself the champion by playing another
FSS, and everyone spontaneously breaks out in applause!

Many said afterwards that the problem with this event was that it was essentially a Monarchs only environment and the main designator was Netherworld. This can make the event a bit stale, so any suggestions to spice it up a bit??? Maybe ban Netherworld as a designator?
[Thaddeus' decklist moved to the decks section]
